NO CHANGE FOR CITI
With Citi Field opening up a little more than a month away, I think the Mets should have made a splash. They didn't make many off season moves and the name of the stadium is still the same, for now. When opening up a new ball park you should reach out to the fans by showing them you are serious about this season. Yes Omar fixed the bullpen by getting Putz and K-ROD. I do not think they did much with the line-up. One mistake I think they made was not going for Orlando Hudson, yes Luis Castillo is supposedly having a great spring training, and he is a guy who is always injured. Hudson, wanted to come to New York to either play for the Mets or the Yankees, no one gave him a chance. Don’t worry he only signed a 1 year deal so when Castillo is shot after the season the Mets can get him. As for the outfield, the only player you have any idea of how he is going to perform is Carlos Beltran. In right field, you do not know what to expect from Ryan Church. In left field, you have Daniel Murphy and Fernando Tatis. Murphy had a great performance while in the majors but that was for part of the season. Will he be able to hand a full season or will he have the sophomore slump. Tatis another guy who you do not know what you will get on the field. He is a year older and off a year ending surgery. The Mets still do not want Manny, how come they didn’t go after a guy like Bobby Abreu, who went to the Angels for a low price, or Raul Ibanez another guy who also didn’t not get the money he deserved. Another position where I think they could use so help is catcher. Guys like Brian Schneider, Ramon Castro, and Robinson Cancel I do not think have what it takes to bring this pitching staff to the playoffs. I think they can use a guy like Ivan Rodriguez. Overall I am a little nervous with the product on the field. Time will tell and hopefully I am wrong and the Mets bring New York a championship.
