WBC and the Mets

There are many people out there who are opposed to the WBC or feel that it should be played at another point in the year. I happen to like this setup. Maybe it has something to do with the superstitious side of me in that the last time we had the WBC the Mets made it to the NLCS. We all know how that ended up but it was a tremendous season up to that point. I believe that having the players play in the classic is a great warmup for the season both from a physical aspect as well as a competitive aspect. Of course there is always the risk of injuries occuring but those injuries could occur in a spring training game as well. I think that you are going to see the hitters appear to be a lot sharper in the beginning of the season as opposed to in previous years due to the fact that they have been playing in full 9 inning competitive games.
